Marcy Seminoff

Individual and Family Therapy

I provide therapy to adolescents, adults, and families. Much of my work focuses on helping people heal from significant loss or trauma, as well as helping people navigate difficult life situations. As I work with clients to explore beliefs and behaviors that may sabotage their relationships or personal goals, I partner with them to discover and develop their gifts and strengths. I believe developing compassion and acceptance of oneself is vital to the healing process.

Adolescents

My work with middle and high school students includes supporting kids struggling with the impact of anxiety and depression on social, academic, and family life. My experience as a former special education teacher is valuable in understanding the needs of teens who have ADHD or learning differences.

Family Therapy

My work as a family therapist is enhanced by my love of parenting education. I empower parents to acquire parenting skills that build effectiveness and strengthen the parent-child relationship. As parents learn how to promote healthy development in their child, they have the opportunity to identify their own unmet childhood needs and develop the tools they need to heal neglected parts of themselves. This concept of reparenting oneself can be a powerful therapeutic tool for all individuals.

Trauma Recovery

I am a certified gestalt psychotherapist, having trained with the Pennsylvania Gestalt Center and assisted with training and workshops. The gestalt perspective allows for a deeper level of personal awareness resulting in a healthier relationship with oneself and others. It is particularly effective for trauma work.
